  • The Jewish Community of Trieste now has almost 600 members and is considered a medium-sized company at national level. To characterize it is the presence of a range of activities and services that cover the entire range of the needs of Jewish life in the constituency of Trieste, Gorizia, Udine and Pordenone. Next to the Synagogue, to the ritual bath (mikveh), to the cemetery, great attention is paid to the education of children and young people. Even today, the Jewish school founded in 1782 with the Patent of Tolerance of Emperor Joseph II under the name of “normal Israelite Pious Schools” is in operation in the Comprehensive Institute “Morpurgo Tedeschi”.
